Souradip Pathak

Souradip Pathak is an institute Doctoral Researcher at the Rekhi Centre of Excellence for the Science of Happiness, IIT Kharagpur, initially started working as Project-PhD fellow (and still associated with) in EqUIP project (An EU-ICSSR joint collaboration) titled ‘Towards A ‘Fluid’ Governance: Hydrosocial Analysis of Flood Paradigms and Management Practices in Rhone and Ganges Basins (India, France and Switzerland). His Doctoral work focuses on ‘Crafting interactive ‘fluid’ governance: Knowledge co-production through multi-stakeholder engagement, reflections from the Indian Sundarbans’ in the context of fishing communities. His area of research interest includes political ecology, human rights, environmental governance and sustainable development goals (SDGs).

Souradip’s role in this project includes designing, organising and facilitating field works, workshops and also contributing to the project deliverables. He will also contribute to coordinating the various actors, networks and sectors associated with the project as well as the other management aspects pertaining to the project.

Principal Investigator for India

Jenia, Assistant Professor at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, is a transdisciplinary researcher on water-society relations. She is currently engaged in several international projects to explore coastal risks and resilience dynamics in transboundary Sundarbans and urban deltas and wetlands from diverse settings (of the global North and South). She is the recipient of World Social Science Fellowship (2013), Australian Leadership Award Fellowship (2010 and 2015), Salzburg Global and Nippon Foundation Fellowship (2020), and Global CoreNet Award (2021) for her work on community livelihoods in the volatile delta ecologies of the global South. She is keen to coproduce knowledge in collaboration with other social stakeholders and identify creative communication strategies through which it can disseminate among wider communities, towards meaningful and sustained impacts.

Jenia is the Indian Principal Investigator for ENGAGE4Sundarbans, providing research coordination and outreach support to the Indian team, collaborating with ULAB, Bangladesh and UNIL, Switzerland. Apart from her research contributions, her (long-term) agenda is to mobilize research communities and practitioners with the SOR4D-driven action framework through lectures, policy talks, MOOCs, and other policy relevant, field-oriented outputs (such as training manuals, user brochures, etc.).
